Why are you so worried about notes?

There’s only 12 of them!

Imagine trying to talk with only 12 words!

Chose some notes- do they sound nice together? You’re not sure? Are you listening? Who else is going to tell you? Make up your mind, there’s only so many options!

Did worrying about notes make you forget about everything else again?

Did you hit one of the 5 “wrong” ones and it threw off your whole game?

Did you forget that you’re just a half step away from a note you’re going to like?

Are you guessing which note comes next, or are you listening?

Do you really think your hand is going to magically find the right sound without taking a hint from your ear?

The best lesson about notes is to give them WAY less priority. I can make more music with a single note than many can with all 12. Use your notes to make music, don’t trick yourself into thinking that notes ARE music.
